Our Story

1997 - Hard Times
Just 6 short years after acquiring our first truck, the industry seemed to take a turn and our company fell on hard times. James decided to close the doors of Tilmon Trucking and focus more on running our truck repair shop.

2008 - Back In It
In 2008, we decided to purchase a truck and hopper bottom trailer to be able to haul our own grain with the hopes of local custom hauling on the side. That winter, an opportunity opened to haul grain for a local elevator and we built a lasting relationship with our first customer.

2019 - Up to 20
Fast forward to 2019, we're running 20 trucks with a mix of hopper bottom and end dump trailers. At this time, we're able to service a wide range of customers hauling many types of grain, fertilizer, and aggregate materials.

2023 - Keep Growing
In July of 2023, we were approached by another local company, Jim Gibson Trucking, who was looking to retire. Doing this added 14 more semi trucks and 14 end dump trailers.
1991 - The First Truck
Founded in 1991 by James Tilmon, Tilmon Trucking began its journey with a single truck. Over the next few years, more trucks were added, enabling us to specialize in both van and reefer freight. With a few trucks, we were delivering freight and serving customers all through the United States and even into Canada.

2002 - The Farm
In the early 2000s, James started working alongside of his father, Henry Tilmon, a retired farmer and truck driver with decades of experience. Together, they farmed 300 acres (primarily a hobby for Henry). Although it was fun, they faced many challenges when harvest came around. Due to the small size of the operation, it was difficult to find help to transport their own grain.

2010 - Figuring It Out
In 2010, we purchased a second truck and end dump trailer to help cover the extra work we were receiving. One by one over the next few years, we added trucks to our operation to make sure our customers were served to the best of our ability.

2020 - New Opportunities
In January of 2020, we expanded by buying out a local dump truck company, Williams Trucking, adding 10 tandem dump trucks and 3 semi's with end dump trailers. In April 2020, we were blessed again with the opportunity to purchase a local reefer trucking company from a family friend who was ready for retirement. This added 10 more trucks to the fleet with a local dedicated haul.
